MR-228 is a Sun Tracker pontoon boat purchased by the fire company from Alpin Haus, in April 2006. The boat is powered by a 50HP Mercury outboard engine. It is kept on the Great Sacandaga Lake during the spring and summer months, boating season for the region.
MR-228 has been equipped to handle water/boat rescues as well as
boat fires. A portable pump is mounted to the bow of the boat. A suction line
can be
placed directly into the lake and then water can be pumped to a boat that has
caught fire. The pump can also be used for a brush fire near the shore line
which may not be immediately accessible to the fire trucks.
