The Edinburg Volunteer Fire Company is located within the Town of Edinburg, Saratoga County, in Upstate New York.  We provide fire protection services to the Town of Edinburg as well as the western half of the Town of Day.  EVFC also provides mutual aid for surrounding fire districts, including for Northville and Providence.  Our apparatus consists of 2 engine/tankers, 1 engine/rescue, 1 tanker, 1 brush truck, 1 utility van, 2 boats and 1 rescue snowmobile.  We are a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization with about 20 active members.  If you are a full-time resident within our district, consider joining today!

The community we serve is located in the Sacandaga River Valley in the northwest corner of Saratoga County, about 50 miles north of Albany.  In 1930, a dam was constructed on the Sacandaga River, flooding the valley, creating the Great Sacandaga Lake.  Edinburg and Day are split nearly in half by the lake.  The opposite shores are connected by the Batchellerville Bridge located near Edinburg's Four Corners.  Our fire house is also located here, making it a critical location in order to access any portion of the district in the least amount of time.  The land quickly rises on either side of the lake, forming the "foothills" of the Adirondack Mountains.

Our protection area consists of seasonal and permanent residences along with small businesses, churches, farms and an elementary school.  The greatest population density is nearest the lake's shores with forestlands covering the majority of the area.  Our population is composed of approximately 2000 permanent (year-round) residents which can grow to up-wards of 20,000 residents throughout the summer months.

Emergency calls via 9-1-1 are handled by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department in Ballston Spa, NY.  They, in turn, dispatch fire, ambulance and police units across the county.  Our area is not directly covered by any cellular providers, so calls to 9-1-1 via cell phone may be directed to another emergency call center.  Always give the operator an accurate description of your location so that crews can locate you quickly in the event of an emergency.
